Doctor

  • Dr. Philip VanVranken , DVM


    Dr. Pete is a 1974 graduate of MSU and the founder of Dickman Road Veterinary Clinic.  He and his wife, Sharon, have two children along with 3 dogs, amd 3 cats.  Dr VanVranken enjoys playing basketball, MSU sports and old cars.   His favorite part of the job is seeing a patient go home after surviving a critical condition and helping people through problems.  His least favorite part is seeing animal abuse and people who don't take proper care of their pets.

  • Dr. Gary Ellis , DVM


    Dr. Gary is a 1975 graduate of MSU and came to Dickman Road Veterinary Clinic in 1977 via Wisconsin.  Dr Ellis' has 2 dogs that he rescued and interests include hunting, fishing, cross country skiing, mountain biking and running.

  • Dr. Ron VanRyswyk , DVM


    Dr. Ron is a 1978 graduate of MSU.  He practiced veterinary medicine in Kalamazoo, MI and Ft Myers, FL prior to joining the clinic in 1985.  Dr VanRyswyk is married and has two children.   He practices small animal medicine and has a special interest in orthopedic surgery.  He currently owns dogs, cats, parrots and guinea pigs.   • Dr. James Barron , DVM


    Dr Jim graduated from MSU in 1988.  He is married and has three children, four dogs and three cats.  Dr Barron practices small animal medicine and surgery on cats, dogs and ferrets.

  • Jeff LaHuis , D.V.M.


    Dr. Jeff is a 1995 graduate of MSU. Jeff has been with Dickman Road since 1999 and is a memeber of the ARAV (Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Vets).  He recently became a Captain in the MS Army Reserve - 719th Medical Detachment-Vet Corps.  He is married with a son.  He currently owns 5 cats, 3 dogs, 2 snakes, a bearded dragon and a turtle.  Outside the clinic his interests include camping,hunting, fishing, and SCUBA diving.  The favorite parts of his job are orthopedic surgery and dealing the with reptiles and amphibians.     Jen is a 2005 graduate of Michigan State and was hired in January of 2007.


  • Courtney Zorn , D.V.M


    Courtney is a graduate of Michigan State University and was hired into the clinic in May of 2007.  She has 1 dog and her interests include hiking, running, quilting, knitting, camping, and reading.  The best part of her job is being able to learn something new every day.


  • Rachel Bradley , D.V.M.


    Dr. Rachel was hired in October 2008.  She is a 2008 graduate of MSU.

Management

  • Pam Weakley , Practice Manager


    Pam was hired in 1990 and started as a room technician.  Pam is married with two grown children who are married (so that equals 4 kids!), 2 dogs, 1 cat and 3 horses.  Her son is a helicopter pilot in the Marines and her daughter is an elementary school teacher.  Her interests include all things horses and reading.   • Robin Sellen , Office Manager


    Robin was hired in December of 2002 as a receptionist, and has since moved up to Office Manager.


  • Debby Jung , Bookkeeper


    Debby started at the clinic in 1997 as a Veterinary Assistant.  She has 2 boys, 2 grandsons, 2 cats, 2 birds, and 2 dog.  Her interests include reading, writing, crafts, camping, walking and church activities.  Debby is currently attending KCC and Spring Arbor to receive her Bachelors in Social Work and then Counseling.


  • Heidi Reschner , Inventory Specialist


    Heidi has been with Dickman Road since 1997 and is in charge of most of our ordering and inventory control.  She has 4 grown children, 3 grandchildren, and 5 cats.  Her interests are gardening, crafts, and being with her family.


Technician

  • Peggy Heersema , LVT


    Peggy is a 1979 graduate of MSU.  She has been with Dickman Road since 1990 and is currently our head technician.  Peggy is married and has 2 children, 1 dog, 2 cats and 1 bird.  Her interests include gardening and singing in the church choir.  The favorite part of Peggy's job is learning something new every day and having lots of contact with the animals.  Her main interest at work is in learning more about small animal dentistry.


  • Toby Colyer , LVT


    Toby is a 1992 graduate of MSU and started with Dickman Road right out of college.  Toby has a Scottie, and an African Grey Parrot.  Her interests include gardening and making improvements to her house. Vetsuite_Img_63622

  • Sarah Vetter , LVT


    Sarah graduated from MSU in 1988.  She first came to our clinic in 1991 and then left for a time to be a stay-at-home mom. She returned in 2003.  Her husband is a retired teacher for the Marshall Public Schools and her son is active in school sports, band.  Sarah and her son are active in environmental issues and take all of our paper products to be recycled at least once a month.  She owns 1 cat and 2 dogs.  Her hobbies include running, tennis, swimming, reading, hiking and yard work.


  • Jackie Higley , LVT


    Jackie is a 1995 graduate of MSU and was hired here shortly after graduation.  Jackie has a son, two dogs, 2 cats, 3 horses and 3 dogs.  Her interests include riding horses, quads and bikes; camping, fishing and spending time with her son.


  • Dona Peet , Technician Assistant


    Dona started as Dickman Road Veterinary Clinic as a Veterinary Assistant in 1996 and is currently our only Technician Assistant.  Dona has a daughter, a granddaughter, 2 dogs. Vetsuite_Img_63626

  • Jennifer Vincent , LVT


    Jennifer started working with Dickman Road in 2002 as a Veterinary Assistant.  She went on to complete her degree and now works as an LVT.  Jen has 2 dogs, 5 cats and 2 birds.  Her favorite part of the job is sending animals home healthy after hospitalization or surgery.  She likes all craft projects like knitting, candle making, papercrafts, and sewing.  She also likes gardening, playing softball and spending time with her family.   • Theresa Dennis , LVT


    Theresa started work with us in 2004 as a Technician Assistant.  She went on to complete her degree and is now working a Bachelors in Veterinary Technology.  Her favorite part of the job is helping an animal feel better and then seeing it go home; and continuing to learn and expand her abilities as a technician.  Theresa has 2 horses, 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 birds, and a 55 gallon cichlid tank.  Theresa's activities outside of work include ice skating, rollerblading, going tothe gym, horseback riding, camping and hanging out with her husband and her new son.


  • Erica M Fancher , L.V.T.


    Erica first came to Dickman Road working part time when she was a student in High School.  She came back in 2005 after she became an LVT.  Erica gets a lot of satisfaction out of seeing her efforts pay off when an animal gets to go home and seeing the owners so happy.  Erica has 3 dogs, 3 cats and 2 horses.  Outside of work she likes running, camping, biking, horseback riding, and anything with her children.


  • Kristin Johnson , LVT


    Kristin is a graduate of Baker College in Muskegon, MI and was hired in 2007.  Her husband is in the Marine Reserves and she has 3 children.  Her pets include 2 snakes, 5 lizards, 1 dog, 1 cat, and a tarantula.  Her interests include crocheting, knitting, riding horses.  The favorite part of her job is doing dentals, diagnostics and nurturing the unwanted and sick animals.  Kristin is currently starting her own grooming business.


Reception

  • Lori Burton , Receptionist


    Lori has been with Dickman Road since 1988.  She is married and has an adorable four legged child named Buddy, her Lab Mix.  Her interests include spending time with family and friends.


  • Lara Jamieson , Receptionist


    Lara has been with us since June of 1995 and she enjoys working with the clients and their pets.  She currently owns a Golden Retriever mix puppy and 2 cats.  Her interests are walking, shopping, softball, and spending time with family and friends.

    Patti was hired in 2002.

    Pam was hired in 2003


  • Nancy E Slocum , Receptionist


    Nancy was hired in 2004.


  • Lisa Sackrider , Receptionist


    Lisa was  hired in 1998 and left for a time but came back in 2005.  Her pets are 2 dogs.  Her favorite part of the job is getting to see all the different types of animals that come in, especially the puppies.  Her interests include bowling, camping, fishing, going to church and playing with her new grandson.


  • Salena Adkins , Receptionist


    Salena has been with us since 2007.  She is married and has no children yet but is the proud owner of 2 pit bulls, and the proud aunt of her niece and 2 nephews.  Her favorite part of the job is seeing the animals going home after they have been here really sick.  Salena enjoys her dogs, movies, myspace, reading, swimming, doing lawn work and spending time with family and friends.  Salena has recently started KCC to get her degree in elementary education.


Kennel

  • Diane Thompson , Head Veterinary Assistant


    Diane is head of our Veterinary Assistant staff and is in charge of keeping our kennels running smoothly and efficiently.  The kennel staff monitor animals after surgeries and provide for the care, feeding, and walking of all our animals.  She has been with us since 1999 and is married with 2 children, 3 dogs, 1 cat and 1 ferret.


  • Deborah Nicholls , Veterinary Assistant


    Deb has been with us since 1999 and has 3 grown children, 4 grandchildren, a dog and a cats.  Her interests include her grandchildren, bowling, her pets, and reading. 


  • Kimberly Bresett , Veterinary Assistant


    Kim has 3 children and 4 grandchildren, 1 cat and 1 dog.  She has been with DRVC since 2000 and her interests include gardening, drag racing and riding in the dunes.  Kim's favorite part of the job is taking care of the sick animals.

  • Chelsea Evans , Veterinary Assistant


    Chelsea has 4 dogs, 1 cat, a fish, a 55 gallong fish tank and 1 rat.  She has an Associates in Science from Kellogg Community College.   Chelsea's favorite part of the job is surgery, client education, pocket pets and seeing some of the rare dog breeds.  Chelsea also works very closely with the SPCA and is actively involved with caring for and placing animals.  She also enjoys NASCAR


  • Justin Bulifant , Veterinary Assistant


    Justin was hired in February of 2002.  He currently has an Associates of General Studies from KCC and has recently joined the Army Reserves and is a member of the 719th Medical Detachment-Veterinary Services.  Justin's favorite part of the job is emergency medicine and being part of a fast paced team working to improve the lives of animals.  Justin has a dog and a cat and in his off time enjoys playing/coaching hockey, playing softball, watching movies with friends, playing video games and going to the gym.

  • Tammy Hartman , Veterinary Assistant


    Tamara started working at DRVC in September of 2004.  She currently has 1 dog, 1 cat, and fish.  Her favorite part of the job is the animals (of course) and during her off time she likes to go horseback riding, billiards and pencil sketching.

    Michelle has been a part of the DRVC family since October of 2005


Assistants

  • Lynnda Kadrovach , Exam Room Technician


    Lynnda is married and enjoys working outside on the farm, gardening, her horses, and in her spare time reading.  She has been with DRVC since August of 1999.


  • Jennifer Krebs


    Jennifer was hired at Dickman Road Veterinary Clinic in September of 2008.  She has a BS degree in biology with a wild animal emphasis from Grand Valley State University.  Her favorite part of the job is seeing the sick animals go home.  She currently has 1 dog and 3 cats.  Outside of work, Jennifer likes reading, gardening, watching football and being outside whenever possible.
